Alice vs. Clinton...Need Help!

OK ladies I need your help!  Last Friday I purchased the Alice in Autumn Sweatercoat.  See my review here.  I was just at the Uvillage Anthro and saw the purple in a Small so I went ahead and tried it on.  Last Friday they only had a cream so I was unable to try a purple one.  This week I guess they restocked.  So here's me in the purple motif:

I still love this sweatercoat, however, I don't remember it being this short the last time I tried it on in the cream.  The purple is beautiful as I expected and goes with my skin tone quite well.  So why do I need your help?  Well, I'm having second doubts about this.  And here's why:

Ladies, I never thought I'd fall in love with this Clinton Trench.  I thought, ok, trenches are more spring, so I don't need to spend the money on one.  I also have a simple trench I just bought but this one is just so different.  I also was afraid all the ruffles and the belt tie would be too much...too busy...but it totally wasn't.  I felt so pretty in this.  Additionally, I wanted to make sure the jacket can be worn open, without needing to be zipped and tied if I'm just running out in a hurry, and based on the above picture, I think it looked fine.

So, what to do girls?  I need your vote.  Chris already voted...so lets see if you agree with him.  Which one do you prefer?  Thank you in advance girls!

OK, so now onto my OOTD.  Since it was cloudy out today, I decided to where pants, which I haven't worn in about two weeks now.  My wedding photographer yesterday posted up an engagement shoot he recently did and the bride-to-be was wearing Anthro's Curlytop Cardigan!  Aren't they cute?

It reminded me that I also own this cardigan and I also bought it months back thinking I'd wear this for my engagement pics.  I ended up not wearing it for that occasion, but still loved it so I kept it.  At the time, my size was all so out but I was able to locate one in the Atlanta store, which Anthro sent to me free of charge.

  2. The first one is nice but the Clinton trench is cuter! Maybe you could get one now and the other on sale later? ;-)

  3. As much as I love the sweatcoat, I agree that the purple really doesn't work with your skin tone. The trench looks amazing on you, and the color is perfect. HOWEVER, if you already own a medium-weight trench, I would think about if you need two...

And I love the curlytop cardi on you!

  6. The Clinton trench for sure. If I didn't already have the similar style in navy, I would totally be making that my next purchase.

  7. Definitely the Clinton Trench - while th sweatercoat is cute, the trench looks fun and unique and amazing. After seeing these pictures I'd be trying to hunt one down if it wasn't an awful color for me.

  8. I'm going to be the lone voice of dissent here. I vote for the Alice in Autumn Sweatercoat. I think the Clinton Trench is overpriced and you should wait for a sale - it will hit sale. $188 for pure polyester is crazy, at least to me!
I am not even a fan of purple and I love the purple Alice on you :-)
By the way, your OOTD is freakin gorgeous!!

  9. clinton trench for sure! I'm not fan of Alice because of the whimpy material and the likelihood of it balling. The trench is a great color on you as well. Totally love the ruffles!

  10. I vote trench, but also bear in mind that I have quite a bias against sweater coats (they never look right on me). I love this trench on you though and you can wear it in the fall and then again next spring making it CHEAPER per wear! LOL

  11. I vote for the trench because it seems like you like it more. However (I know that this is annoying), the purple on the Alice looked fabulous on you. Cindi, you just look adorable in the Clinton- just get it! You will get a ton of wear out of it!

  12. oh my gosh, the Clinton Trench is so so so awesome on you! but i have to agree with Kim that it's a high price to pay for polyester. - the one reason i probably would never buy it. on the other hand, i'm a huge fan of the purple, but not so much the Alice in Autumn. hmph.. i'm not helping any, am i??

  14. Oh wow, Cindi!! I was totally ready to vote for Alice, but that Clinton Trench is just dynamite on you! I love it!!! I truly don't think you can go wrong with either, but your smile is just so big and happy in the Clinton Trench pictures!!! :) :) I hope it's hanging in your closet right now!
Absolutely love your OOTD, too, btw!

  15. I was personally never hot on the Alice cardi - get the Clinton trench! I think you'll get tons more wear out of it and it could probably also withstand some actual rain too! I definitely don't think you're overflowing in ruffles or anything, you should get it!

(But giddiness aside, make sure it is something you really would wear and love).

  16. You really look amazing in the Clinton trench. I'm not a fan of it on me, personally, but I vote for it for you. It loves you as much as you love it.

  17. The trench!! No contest :)

  18. The trench is 10x better than the sweater coat and will stand up better to being worn many times throughout the cooler months.

  19. The Clinton.

I loved how you paired your 2 outfits for your engagement photos and wanted to know what color tights are you wearing with your Horizon Line Dress. It actually inspired me to buy the dress off Trade Market. Thanks! I am a fan of your blog!

  20. Thank you girls for all your messages! You guys were spot on with Chris' favorite. He also loved the trench on me. I think I'm leaning that way as well. I've been staring at these pictures. Hehe..

Crew Fan - Thank you for being a fan of my blog!!! I paired just the black tights with the horizon line dress. Although I think if you have navy tights, they would go great with it too. Also dark gray tights. I've also worn it without tights and it works as well. It's one of my favorite dresses!

  22. Oh I love the trench- it's so much more interesting than the Alice!

  23. Love the tank on you! Are they new?

  24. Inkmark - The tank was actually in the sales section a couple of weeks ago when I got it. So I don't believe it's new. I think it would have been sold with the lounge wear stuff. This was the only one I saw and it was in my size...so I lucked out.

  25. Hi Cindi, you wouldn't by any chance want to sell your Clinton Trench? Haha I thought I'd ask since I missed out on it when it was in stores. My email is Julieawaken@gmail.com thanks! Love your reviews!
