To Eternity and Beyond!

Exactly one year ago today, my sweet fiance asked me to marry him. It was definitely a night to remember. We started out with a romantic and yummy dinner at Rovers, one of the best Seattle restaurants before coming home to this:

This was resting on our bed when I got home and walked into the bedroom to change into comfy home clothes. Chris and I started our relationship long distance and as a means to make me feel closer to him, whenever he’d come visit me in LA, he’d place random cards around my apartment. The point was to have me stumble onto them, but if I don’t find them, he’d hint to where one was every now and then. This continued after I moved back and we moved in together. Sometimes after a stressful day at work, I’d come home to a nice little card written for me in the fridge! He’d hide them in all sorts of places for me to find, including on the toilet paper roll in the bathroom and in coat pockets. Each card would document why he loved me and express certain aspects of our relationship. All in all, there were around 40 cards and the last “card” was this book. The book was filled with pictures of every card he’s given me to help me document it all together.

It was dedicated to me of course :)

I flipped through the pages not knowing what was to come on the very last page:

He said he knew soon after he met me that I’d become his wife. So he started the proposal process with the first card he’s ever given me. The cards continued for more than a year and all that time he was planning the big night! I was totally surprised and caught off guard. I did not expect him to propose in this way and as I was in the middle of crying my eyes out reading the last page, he was already on his knees…ring in hand. Blabbering away, something really sweet probably but I had no idea what he said to me that night since I was so emotional. That day will go down as one of the best days of my life. And must I not forget, here’s the bling!

She is a true beauty and I am a very lucky girl!

Now with less than four months to our wedding, I just have to say that I’ve had a great year of planning our big party together with my partner in crime. I think the wedding planning process really is a test of how you’ll work as a couple for the rest of your lives. Think about it, your wedding is an important day to you not only as a bride, but also as a couple. It symbolizes your union together and a celebration of a love that hopefully lasts till death due you part. Having a partner that’ll help you plan through this whole process and provide you with meaningful opinions and feedback is extremely important. And I couldn’t have asked for a better partner for this job! I haven’t turned into Bridezilla YET…but I will make sure to blog about it when those devil horns starts coming out.

  4. Congrats! My fiance and I were in a LD relationship too, so I totally know what you mean! I'm less than 3 months away from our wedding and I really think the experience is what you make of it...I haven't gone bridezilla on anyone/thing yet but I've been trying to take everyone's advice to just sit back and enjoy this time :)

  5. That is the sweetest story! Congratulations on your engagement:) I just got married and I know what you mean about having a partner through the planning process. We created a day that reflected the both of us. Knowing he had my back and was interested in the planning saved my sanity and kept me from losing it.

  6. @ tres tippy: Thank you! I hope you the best of luck with your planning process too. Isn't it a great time? It's definitely important to be in the moment and enjoy this time because it only happens once (hopefully). :) Thanks for reading and I hope you continue to follow me through this time of my life!

@Courtnee: Congrats, New Bride! Isn't it great when there's someone there that's willing to go through all this with you? I think when brides feel like they're in it alone at this time is when they get frustrated and angry. Your hubby sounds great and I bet you had a beautiful wedding!
