Engagement Picture Outfits and OOTD!

Hello all!  Happy Thursday and thank goodness tomorrow is Friday.  It's been a long week so far and I'm looking forward to the weekend because my fiance, his sister and me are going dress shopping for my future mother-in-law, Linda.  Linda hasn't dressed up in years so I can't wait to see her with some cute outfits on!

Anyway, I'm super excited about today's post because I get to share with you guys some possible outfits I'm going to wear for my engagement photos which is coming up on May 22nd.  Let me just give you a little background on the locations we'll be going to.  I live in Seattle, so the first location is an old neighborhood called Pioneer Square.  There is a plaza there surrounded by old brick and stone buildings.  Here's a picture to give you the look and feel of the area:
And here is what I planned on wearing for this location:

I scored this dress on ebay recently and just love wearing it.  I didn't want to take it off.  It's so cute and comfortable.  The material is silky smooth, feels like high quality fabric.  I can just roll in bed with it on.  I'm not a huge fan of my legs, but this dress actually make my stumpy legs look semi-normal!

The second location we planned on going is a neighborhood called the SODO District.  SODO stands for "South of Downtown" and it's a very industrial area with it's warehouse style buildings and tons of railroad tracks.  Well, where there's railroad tracks, there's bound to be graffiti.  I love the look of an urban setting, pebbled roads, railroad tracks, red brick buildings and Starbucks Headquarters!  Yes, Starbucks Coffee's main building is there and what a great way to represent Seattle to have that building in some shots.  There's really not one picture I can provide that sums up the look and feel of this area.  But here's a picture of the Starbucks building along with some of the murals on old sides of buildings:
And here's the outfit for the SODO location:

I saw this dress last weekend and tried it on but decided that it was too much to buy for full price.  Then I went home and searched for it online and there were already over 100 review for it on the Anthro site.  I'm thinking it'll sell out.  On my lunch hour this week I went to Anthro again and tried this dress on just to make sure I still loved it, and I did.  But even then I couldn't bite the nail and get it.  Finally, today, I caved...and boy it was a great decision.  It's such a well made, well structured piece.  It'll be versatile with a lot of items in my closet and it will be photographed permanently forever.  :)  The white, blue, and brown will go well with the colors of the different murals and buildings in SODO.

And here's just a couple of other options I threw around:

Banana Republic shirt dress with patent leather belt and patent peeptoes

I just love the combination of the green sweater and the purple-ish tee inside (in fact this look was featured in the Anthro catalog, but I think the outfit will compete too much with the murals and graffiti in SODO.

So onto my OOTD.  Ironically this is the same cardigan as the one I wore above with the Beda white dress.  I just love the structure of these little cardis cause they hang straight and the sleeves are not too short or too long.  I have another one in yellow and I think I want one in every color!

I just love love love this shirt.  I recently purchased it full price but it's got to be one of my favorite layering pieces in my closet.  The bow it just so cute!  And it's super comfortable and flattering.

Cardigan - Halogen (Nordstrom)
Top - Pearly Glow Tank (Anthropologie)
Pants - Banana Republic (circa 2006)
Necklace - Forever 21 multiple strand pearls
Shoes - Valenti patent red pumps (Nordstrom)

I wore these before but gotta show them off again.  The camera doesn't do the color justice.  But I just love these shoes and they're SOOOO comfy.

OK long post today.  I will leave you be now so have a great night!  Friday tomorrow and it'll be sunny and warm!  Low 60s!  I'm busting out a dress.  :)  FINALLY!

  1. I love your outfits choices for the pictures. I agree that for the SODO location, keeping it neutral is a good idea. Not a good idea to have to much going on with the clothing pattern if there is a lot already in the background. I hope you share some of the pictures after they are done bc I would love to see them! The locations seem so perfect. And good luck shopping with future MIL. Sounds like it will be fun to get to play dress up for her, esp. if she doesn't do it for herself on a regular basis.

And BTW, now you really make me want to try the Beda dress and the bow tank!!

    Great blog! I started following!

  2. Thank you for following, Pamela! I will definitely be posting pictures up once they come out. In looking at your beautiful figure, I think both the beda dress and the bow tank will look wonderful on you. I can't talk about the beda dress more. It's just so simple and comfortable! Let me know if you try it and what you think! Have a great Friday!

  3. You got the Beda Dress! It's darling on you. Wow, talk about a tough decision. Both locations are awesome! So many possibilities for each one. The outfits are knockouts too. Sorry, I'm no help, I just love both. Well, I guess you can do no wrong on this one. Congrats on the engagement!

  4. Thank you, Cat! I think I'm going to go with the Beda and the Horizon. In addition to how I look, I have to feel good in it too. And the Beda is just amazing. Love it! Thanks for reading!
