Project 52: Week 3 - Shades of Gray

Most people when they think of Seattle, they think of rain and gray!  And they are usually right.  Especially during this time of year.  It's a rare day if the sun decides to peak through the clouds.  It's even more rare for it to not rain at all...but this past Saturday, we got lucky and we had a fairly dry day.  Still gray...but at least dry.

We decided to rent a couple of lenses from Glazers and go down to the Seattle center to take some pictures for week 3 of Project 52.  One place I do not go often is the Seattle Center because it's very touristy, but whenever I do go, I always have a great time.

One of the most famous Seattle landmarks, the Space Needle!  Here it is, in it's gray glory!  The gray blob sort of blocking it is the Experience Music Project.  A Frank Gehry designed music museum.  It's actually multi-colored and whenever friends from out of town come to Seattle, they always ask me what the multi-colored blob that's underneath the Space Needle is.  Well, now you know! :)

We had some extra time left in the day so we went up to the Queen Anne neighborhood where you can see the whole city scape.  You see the colorful blob at the bottom left?  That's the Experience Music Project!  The whole city kinda looks very gray doesn't it?

Of course I'm going to include a picture of my beloved husband in his awesome gray Lululemon jacket I gifted him for his birthday years ago.

In case people are interested, all pictures were taken with a 50mm f1.4 lens I rented that day from Glazers.  I loved this lens so much and will actually make this my next investment.  :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Work tomorrow...yech!  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

  6. I love that little moving picture of you on your sidebar! Too cute :)

Can you tell me what the difference is between a 50mm f1.4 lens and a 50mm f1.8 lens? Is one better than the other? Is there a big price difference?

Love that second picture you took! It's amazing how there's that little blob of color amongst all that gray.
