Holiday Shopping Party and a Boring OOTD

Good Thursday afternoon, readers!  In our household, I think we've deemed every Thursday Turkey Dinner day!  My husband is at Microsoft right now and as long as he's contracted out there, we'll probably have turkey for dinner every Thursday.  One of their cafes serves an amazing turkey with two sides.  We usually get the mashed pototoes and stuffing...mmm...who says Thanksgiving only happens once a year?  So...you all know what I'm looking forward to tonight!

Before turkey though, I'll be going to a very special event.  Tonight at the downtown Anthro store, there's going to be an exclusive Holiday Shopping Party.  I'm not sure why I was invited on Facebook, yet some of my friends weren't.  But I'm still bringing my entourage with me, including my sister-in-law, and we're going to enjoy some drinks and snacks while we shop.  I have a couple of returns so I won't be buying anything new...the best I'll do is an exchange.  :)

Simply Cindi comes to you in a Simply Boring outfit today.  I knew it was going to be a long day, so I just wanted to be comfortable.  And what's the definition of comfortable???  Leggings, flowy top, and boots!

Sorry for the horrible picture!  My iPhone is actually pretty bad at taking pictures under my office bathroom's lights.  My blackberry did a much better job.  The top was something I bought years ago at a boutique in one of our Seattle neighborhoods.  It must be 5 years old...but I still love it.  You can't tell but the color is a light plum.  My cardi is an oatmeal and I'm wearing black tights.

I recently got this adorable watch necklace from Oh, Hello Friend.  Love it!

Tomorrow is my husband's office Holiday party.  This is the first year it's held on a weeknight, right after work, so I'll have no time to really get ready, as it's going to be pretty formal.  So I've made an appointment at lunch tomorrow to get my herr did!  I'm wearing the Discovered Lace Dress with some black tights and gray suede booties.  And the inspiration for my hair?  Check out Zoe Saldana's do below.  That's what I'm aiming for.

That's it from me for now!  Have a great rest of the afternoon.

  1. I don't think your outfit is boring at all. Maybe I'm just biased because it's one of my favorite go to looks for myself! :)

I think your outfit for the party sounds perfect and I totally see your hair in that style, too. Have a great time!

  3. Hi Cindi!

We totally saw you tonight at the downtown Anthro event. You were busy making a return, and we didnt want to bother you. Or seem like stalkers.

The event was kind of lame, so we bounced early. We were hoping for more. The picture booth was cool though.

Maybe we will run into you at Anthro again. Next time we promise to say hi. In an unstalkerish way.

  4. Aww Cindi, your outfit is lovely, not boring at all! Comfort is very important when it comes to dressing up.
Have a fab time at the holiday shopping party! Wonder if you'll go home with some goodies?
Zoe Saldana's look is beautiful! I am sure you will look just as stunning, especially with your discovered lace dress. Looking forward to seeing the pictures :-)

  5. I can't wait to see your hair styled like Zoe Saldana's. She is truly gorgeous, but I think you can give her a run for her money : )

And you look great in plum, even if we can't see the true colors in these pics. It is a color that looks wonderful with neutrals.

Thank you so very much for your kind comments on my Funny Face shot. I am so glad you liked the pictures. And you are absolutely right that it was a bit reminiscent of "Up." I might have to do another movie-outfit recreation -- this time as Russell. Now if I could just find a huge backpack and a yellow camp shirt!

  6. Yesterday was a comfy day for me too because I woke up to no hot water and no heat, so I wasn't in the mood to get dressed up!

Can't wait to see your new hair :)

  7. Yum your turkey dinner ritual sounds awesome! Husband and I used to have a dinner that I invented that was a variation of the Moist Maker (from Friends) with turkey breast, cranberry sauce, stuffing and mayo! DELISH! Actually I might need to make that again soon!

Your outfit today looks so cozy! I wish I could dress like that for work! I'm dressed comfortable today and still in a skirt and tights! Bah!

Have fun at the party! Can't wait to see the hair results!

  8. Pamela - Haha...I know what you mean. I just love to lounge around in leggings and a longer top. I don't care what anyone (or Tim Gunn) says about leggings!

Justyn and Grete - Whoa...that's a totally celebrity moment you just gave me. Haha...I was there with a couple of friends and yes, I was making an exchange. Eeek! Yes, next time do say hi! I love meeting readers!

Jen - Why yes I did. Just one thing though. I'll blog about it in an upcoming entry.

Jamie - Hehe...I just loved your outfit and I hope you win! That'll be so funny if your outfit was inspired by Russell. But knowing you, you'll prob come up with something really nice and elegant!

Sara - Haha...I know what you mean. Hey maybe that's why I'm so lazy all the time because we like to sleep in the cold and block the heat vent into our bedroom!

Kathleen - Ooooh omg your turkey moist maker sounds soooo good. Can I come over? :)

  12. Ohhhh, turkey. You know my fave sandwich is the Thanksgiving dinner sandwich - turkey with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce between two slices of bread. Mmmm, tryptophan heaven.

Looking forward to your new 'do - I think you'll look fantastic!
