Hello all! As some of you know, my birthday was this month and as a bday present, my husband bought me a new iPhone 4! I've never owned an iPhone before because I was waiting for the right version to come out. And when I saw that this one had the world's clearest screen and you can talk on the phone using Face Time, I was sold!
Of course I love the apps on the iPhone. The one I'm obsessed with right now is called Angry Birds. Basically there are these birds which you place in a slingshot and shoot at these pigs in these wooden and ice boxes. It's so frustrating I tell you! I'm stuck on level 4 and can't get past it. The pigs taunt me because they smile slyly at you if you don't shoot them down right before the level ends. Arghghgh!
Another app I can't live without is eBuddy. I'm unable to sign into any chat program at work, so to keep me sane, I keep in touch with my husband and friends through eBuddy. I was afraid to get the iPhone because of the touch screen keyboard but the 4G phone's keyboard is amazing. It's been really easy to use so far.
Of course I have to put some smart apps in there to fool myself into thinking I'm truly cultured and educated. The Wallstreet Journal and the New York Times is also on the phone...but I hardly use those. :)
For those readers that have an iPhone, what are some of your favorite apps???
And I leave you with my dessert from last night. Does anyone eat greek yogurt? I love it and think it's way better than normal yogurt, but it does have a higher fat content so I try to limit my intake on it. The hubby made me a greek yogurt parfait with granola, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, and pears! It was yummo!

ahh, I love my iPhone! Some of the apps I have (and love) are facebook, tweetdeck, pandora, balance (I have the free version, but it's basically an electronic checkbook, which I like because I'm really bad at keeping track of my spending), shazam(red) (you have it listen to a bit of any song on the radio and it will tell you what it is and who it's by...my version is the red version so the $ went to AIDS research, but there's a regular version too), white noise (I'm a light sleeper), IMDB, WebMd, flashlight (it's helpful when it's dark out - it's just a bright white screen), Pandora, Fandango, and Ebay. Umm...I like apps. My favorite games right now are Zombie Duck (like duck hunter), Words with Friends (basically scrabble), LetsTans (it's a shape game...I can't really explain it), DoodleJump, and Zombieville. I usually check the free games section out on iTunes once a week or so because there are always new ones!
ReplyDeleteAshley - WOW...that's a great portfolio of apps you got there. I've tried Words before but I suck at it. I don't know why but my friends always beat me and it's embarrassing! Chris has Zombieville on the iPad right now. I should get balance though! It'd help a great deal! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteiPhones rock (my fiance has one, and he loves it!)! How awesome that your hubby got you one as a b-day gift, so sweet of him! Greek yogurt is my absolute fav, I eat it for breakfast all the time! That parfait looks so tasty!
ReplyDeleteI have a love hate r/ship with the iphone.I keep switching between the blackberry and iphone. I too am waiting for the perfect version to come out. So sweet of Chris :)
ReplyDeleteI love my iPhone, but don't have a lot of apps but the ones i have, i use regularly-Shazam, FB, twitter for iPhone, around me, and eBay. Boring, huh?
ReplyDeleteOops, I forgot, I also have Gilt and E! News :)
ReplyDeleteLook up Emoji Free for iPhone. It has the most adorable emoticons I've seen so far and it's so much fun to use! It only works if you send them to other iPhone users.
ReplyDeleteHelpful ones for me are Bank of America and American Express apps, so that you can check your balance and account on your phone on the go (:
Cindi, welcome to the iPhone world. I had the 3G for 2 years and recently upgraded to the iPhone 4! I love it. As for apps... get ready:
ReplyDeleteI'm a photo nerd, so I have: Hipstamatic, BlendCam, CameraBag, Diptic, Lo-Mob, Mill Colour, Pano, Percolator, Pic Grunger, PictureShow, ShakeItPhoto, SwankoLab, TiltShiftGen, IncrediBooth, PS Express, FAIL Maker, and KittyCamera (Hello Kitty-fies your photos!). PHEW!
I also have fitness apps! Lose It!, iFitness, My24 (helpful if you want to see class schedules), Nike + iPod AND the GPS version, Cyclemeter, and iMapMyFitness (although I think I'm going to get rid of that one).
I have a lot of others - including Angry Birds!
It is always the smallest game that hooks u most easily. Right now both my hubby and daughter are hooked on this ninja game that throws grenade at things... My most frequent used apps are yelp and google map. It is always about food.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your iPhone. I'm so embarrassed by my phone. Actually, no, not really. But it is super old. I mean there was this like 80 year old woman on a plane next to me on my way back from Africa, and she had the same phone. I'm pretty sure there are poor people in China with a better phone than me. Oh well. I do have an iTouch though, but not a tn of apps. I have this one app that has a new weird fact each day I find amusing. Also, I love Scramble. And this game called 20Q that can guess any object you're thinking of based on answers to the questions. It's cool.
ReplyDeleteWOW...I'm so glad I posted this because I'm totally getting so much good information here. I'm always going online for 24 fitness schedules, so debbie deb, thanks for the 24 hour suggestion. I also can't wait to try the hello kitty app!
ReplyDeleteAnd Cindy...I love emoticons. I need to get that app right away! And a couple of you use Shazam...so I'm going to look into that as well. :)
Thanks, All!
I'm a die hard BlackBerry user, but I'm curious about that bird game...the pigs look friendly in the picture. : )
ReplyDeleteLC - I love the blackberry as well and I swore by it for the last 5 years or so. But after owning the iPhone now, I see what all the ruckus is about. It's just such a more funner phone. I do like typing on the blackberry though but the iphone's new screen isn't half bad either.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your phone. I looove greek yogurt. They do make it in low fat/fat free versions... just probably not as yummy! Trader Joe's has a pomegrante one I like or Sam's has a fruit variety pack. Also like to drizzle vanilla flavor w/ honey and almonds. Mmm... thinking about food and looking at your parfait has made me hungry!
ReplyDeleteMichelle
if you like that bird game and you have a Wii, you MUST try Boom Blox. The whole premise of the game is to throw stuff at buildings/structures to get them to topple down or to do the opposite by pulling out pieces like in Jenga. Tons of fun!
ReplyDeleteYey for the new iphone Cindi and glad to hear you are enjoying yourself!! I've got one and love it, so easy and fun to use, and the app I most use is Pandora- music from all over 24/7.
ReplyDeleteHey Cindi
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new iphone4 - how great of your husband!
Isn't the iphone the coolest thing? I can spend hours downloading apps. I've played that Angry Birds game too. I clocked it!
You should also try Scamble (by Zynga I think). It's a word game and very addictive. My husband and I played this game while waiting in the queue to get up to Notre Dame in France. We try to beat each other's scores! My personal best is 151 (the 2 minute version), can you beat it?? hehehehe!
Also, download Jirbo - it's a cute animal version of Bejewelled. Very addictive also!
Have fun playing with your new toy!!
Cheers
Jen
Oh yeh, the apps i mentioned above are FREE FREE FREE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your iPhone!!! I'll warn you - it's addicting!! It's the best thing ever and I don't know how I lived without one.
ReplyDeleteHow are you like the 4G? I have the 3G and it's been freezing a lot and giving me problems. I'm eligible for an upgrade...have you had any issues with yours at all?
As for apps, most have been mentioned, but i love Shazaam, Four Square, TweetDeck, Around Me, Facebook, Pandora, Yelp, Check Please, WeatherBug, Paypal, and Ebay!
Yay on getting an iPhone! I just got the 4G last week and even I'm excited even though I had the 3GS before it :) The most frequent app I use is my Kindle for iPhone App -- I basically read whenever I'm stuck in line or between meetings. After that...Shazaam, Facebook, eBay, OpenTable (for restaurant reservations), Yelp...Hipstamatic is fun for cool pictures too :)
ReplyDeleteKim - I love it so far and I have not had the problem of it freezing on me one bit. The screen is amazing, btw and I truly find that it's great for typing. Much better than the 3G. The face time is also fun! I'd say upgrade!
ReplyDeleteLucky girl with a new iPhone! J and I haven't gotten on the iPhone wagon yet. We're both still bundled with our families on the family plan which comes out much cheaper. We don't use the phone much anyhow. The games sound fun though! I love the Free iLaunched for Free (Sheep) game I got for my iTouch. It's so fun to shoot the sheep into the sky and keep going as long as possible. It keeps our nephews entertained sometimes too!
ReplyDeleteYum - love Fage greek yogurt. Not sure how much worse it is? But I've always read it's better for you - at least the 0% fat, no fruit filling type.

ooh my hubby gave me my first iphone (the 3g) for my birthday too. Congrats! I also upgraded to iphone 4, and loooove it! This is a great post, cuz I love reading the comments. I just downloaded emoji free (thanks Cindy!) and I'm going to check out that hello kitty photo app (thanks Debbiedeb!)
ReplyDeleteI like hipstamatic and ps express (a mini photoshop) for photos. I also use gorilla cam which has a timer mode for photos. I've also used Lose It! but didn't keep up with it (keeps track of your calorie intake and exercise, etc... helps you track weight loss). I loooooved my Get Running app (it's a couch to 5k running program), I love RunKeeper to keep track of what routes I've run, how long I ran, distance running, etc.
Southwest app is so useful for checking in for flights when you're not at the computer!
Allrecipes and epicurious are useful for helping me think abt dinner on the run. Check please is great for calculating tips and splitting bills. Opentable is great for reservations, Yelp, chicfeed, style.com, ebay app (amazing. i actually like it better than the full website), craigspro (great if you like doing craigslist searches!), redlaser, gilt, amazon.com, light (uses the led on the back of your phone for a GREAT flashlight in the dark), OneBusAway (amazing if you use bus system in seattle), NYtimes, tweetdeck, facebook...
phew!
and i love greek yogurt. Especially the honey Greek Gods yogurt. It's definitely like a dessert!
Teehee...it's so fun to hear you say (see you write) "my husband." Hooray!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am a huge fan of Greek yogurt. I wish it were a little cheaper, because I would be willing to bet that half of my grocery bill goes to Greek yogurt. The fat free varieties aren't bad, but there's no substitute for the 2% milkfat with honey and fresh strawberries!
HEy Cindi - i need help. The clinton trench - do you have the petite or regular?? Im not sure which one to get!
ReplyDeletethanks a bunch!
Jen
