Solemate...

Six years ago, I bought a pair of black suede peeptoe pumps at Ann Taylor LOFT that I absolutely loved.  They were so comfortable, yet fashionable at the same time.  I loved it to pieces...and literally wore it to pieces.  I wore it to the point where the metal nail inside the thin heel was coming out of the heel and every time I walked, I made a loud, unavoidable click-clacking sound.  The right shoe fell victim to what I call "a hole lotta love" disease.  You know, it's when you love and wear your shoes so much that the ball of the shoe actually has a hole in it.  I tried to treat my girls, and brought them to a shoe repair shop but sadly, the cobbler told me my beloved peeptoes were beyond rescuing.  I was so sad to have heard this news, sad enough to give my girls a proper burial service.  So, into the garbage can they went at the corner of Market and 24th in Ballard Seattle...and into the cupcake store I went to eat my feelings.

Fast forward six years and I see this pretty baby on Ann Taylor LOFT's site:

I felt like I was in a movie.  You know the movie where the main guy's girlfriend dies from a horrible car accident and six years later meets a beautiful girl that almost looks exactly like his dead girlfriend?  Welp, I was that guy!  Well, not that I'm a guy...and not that...well...nevermind!  But you know what I  mean.  And you know how excited I was to find out these shoes were on sale...50% off!!!  It's like if this new girl knew the recipe of my favorite chocolate chip cookies my dead girlfriend used to bake AND she watched the football game while we ate them, something my dead girlfriend didn't like watching.  OK...I'm pretty sure no one knows what I'm talking about so I'll stop with the dead girlfriend thing.  But let me just say, these cute shoes are in my life and I just love them!

What's better than finding your solemate?  Having some "sole food".  Here's my dinner from last night:

Those that follow me know I love my noodle soups.  Ramen and pho are some of my favorite foods and I can honestly eat it everyday.  My mom made me some home made noodles and I made a Kimchee ramen with them.  The Kimchee was perfectly sour....and spicy.  Just perfect for the "sole"...and soul!

  1. ...and "SEOUL"!!! :)

I know what you're talking about re: dead gf--it's what the chinese and korean dramas are made of :) I am so happy you found a replacement for your beloved shoes. Maybe you should buy an additional pair, just in case? hee hee.

  5. I know what you mean about the shoes being worn too many times that the heel gets worn and makes that "clicking" sound as you walk - it's happened to me so many times! At least you found your love again. Those shoes look gorgeous and classic - no wonder you love them!
I love noodle soups aswell. Are you a fan of Laksas? they're my fave :-) I should also mention that your photography looks wonderful.

  7. When I first saw the title of this post, I was expecting to see pictures of Chris. Then when I saw pictures of shoes I thought, "Wait, what? Where's Chris?" So I went back and looked at the title and realized my mistake :) Gotta pay attention to those details!

  8. Such pretty new shoes. I'm glad you were able to get such a great deal on them. And I feel the same way about a pair of black patent pumps I own (they actually look pretty similar to your suede ones, but with a different materials). I've taken them to a cobbler once, but I have a feeling that they're on their last legs...

  11. Yum-OH! That noodle soup looks so good!!! I love ramen. My brother just taught me a new way to make it. Take ramen and just soak it in hot water until it loosens up, then transfer to a hot frying pan (w/o the water) and fry it up with the seasoning and some kimchee. MMM-mmm-good! Love the shoes by the way! I think Roxy was wearing them yesterday in her post. Great minds think alike! ;-)

  12. Carol - I love kimchee so much. I know it's not for everyone but I bet if they tasted my ramen, they'd think differently! Haha!

Pamela - Hmm I think based on your question, I'll post a special post in a few days with the recipe. So stay tuned! But is' really easy!

Jen - What is Laksas? I don't even know but if it's anything soupy, salty, and spicy, then yes, I like it!

Lisa - Welcome! You're a new follower so a huge welcome hug to you! I hope you stick around cause I've got some fabulous things coming up.

Sara - Haha...I think I've written about Chris a lot but you're right, he is my soulmate and stay tuned for a special post dedicated to him this Sunday.

Jamie - I hope you also find another solemate to replace your loving patent ones. It's the saddest thing to have to toss them into the garbage.

Lisa - respect the shoes - Thanks! I can't wait to wear her. And now that I read your comment and saw pho, I want!

Debbie- Haha now that I'm looking at my pictures again, I'm hungry too!

Ginabean - Your brother is so smart! OMG I need to try that and fry up an egg with it because I always do in my ramen soup. WOW it's like a deconstructed ramen!

  13. Haha. I totally know what you mean, both about the perfect pair of shoes and the dead girlfriend analogy. Hilarious. Just out of curiosity, do you find Loft shoes to be comfy? I think their styles are cute, but I haven't pulled the trigger on a pair yet because I've been wondering about that. Thanks!

  15. Linette - Yes, I feel LOFT shoes are really comfy. These shoes are high but I don't feel like my feet are irregularly positioned into the shoe...unlike my Jessica Simpsons that I have. I highly recommend them!

Tien - Aww you liking my photos is a total compliment since you take some awesome photos with just your remote. Thank you SO much!

  16. Your post made me laugh out loud. I just had to tell you. Over-extended metaphors are the best! And those are some cute heels. You can't go wrong at 50% off for a dead girlfriend. =)
