Currently we placed our couch on top of the rug. I think we'll need to pull the rug forward and place the couch back on the hardwood floors. The only problem is since we have felt pads on the feet of the couch, it tends to slide around. We just bought non-slip pads which I think will help with the problem. But as for the rug, I just love it!!! It's such a wonderful design and the color is just right. I'm so glad we purchased it for our space.
We also decided to buy this little bench for the space right below where we hung our guest book. It's right next to our fireplace before you reach the formal dining room. It'll be a great perch place for our cat and when we have guests over, we can slide this right next to our couch. This seats two people comfortably.
Also, to honor my father-in-law, I wanted to post a special "Help Cure PanCan with Purple!" post. I plan on doing this post some time next week, so please email me your outfits incorporating the color purple in your OOTD. I believe some day, we'll finally be able to say we've cured cancer. But until then, we can still hope on to that hope. I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
Please email your outfits to: cindiwang (at) gmail (dot) com
Love the rug.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your father in law's passing. My friend/co worker, Julie has put together a Purple Passion for Fashion fashion show fundraiser next weekend to raise $ for Pancreatic Cancer research. It's such a worthwhile cause. I learned it's the least (or one of the least) funded cancer for research.
Pamela, you are right. In terms of government funding, breast cancer leads the pack and pancreatic and even lung cancer receives the least. Even though...lung and pancreatic cancers are more deadly than breast cancer. I support all types of cancer research, but deep inside, I really wished more funding were given to pancan. Pancan has been the silent killer until recently with what happened to Patrick Swayze. It's very sad, but he finally gave more publicity to this deadly disease.
ReplyDeleteAww, sorry to hear about your father in law. I know he was really missed at your wedding. I think it's incredible how you and Chris chose to honor his memory. He may be gone, but he will always be with you and Chris.
ReplyDeleteTien - Thank you! We totally felt his presence there! I actually think he follows us a lot of times to protect us. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your father-in-law passing away. I've known someone who battled pancreatic cancer too. Thanks for promoting awareness. I love to wear purple and will send you an outfit picture for your post. Thanks for reminding me about the important cause also associated with my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love your new rug! :-)
Hello Cindi. Im so sorry to hear about your father in law. It's really sad. My uncle passed away a couple of years ago due to bowel cancer. He was too young to pass away.
ReplyDeleteThanks for raising awareness about Pancreatic cancer - I think it deserves to be promoted, along with the other cancers.
I will send you a purple outfit shortly.
Cheers
Jen
:( My grandpa died of pancreatic cancer. I'll send you a picture of me wearing purple...thanks for bringing this to light.
ReplyDeleteCindi, I'm so sorry about your Father-in-law. It's a tough thing to lose the people we love to such a horrible disease. My husbands aunt died from pancan a few years ago. She was a great lady and we miss her. I will definitely be sending you a purple outfit. Such a great idea for a post.
ReplyDeleteYour rug looks awesome! Seeing your hard wood floors makes me miss mine.
Debbie - Thank you so much for your submission. I truly appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteJen - My grandpa also passed from bowel cancer and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. He looked horrible and was in so much pain. I SO want to find a cure for these cancers that's taken so many loved ones lives.
Robin - Thank you for your submission of your outfit and I'm so sorry to hear that your grandpa also passed. I believe my father in law is in a better place where he's happier and can look after me and Chris and I'm sure your grandfather is in the same place.
Lorraine - It always surprises me when I mention pancan, how many people also have known others who's passed from it. It's such a rare cancer but it has stricken so many lives. I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's aunt. I'm looking forward to your submission.
Love the rug Cindi!! I'm impressed with how far you've come along in decorating! It takes me forever to buy one thing for the house. I'm plagued by my own fickle tendencies. I'll try to dig up something purple for your tribute post. It's definitely a worthy cause and a form of cancer that we don't hear a whole lot about.
ReplyDeleteLove the new rug and I'll definitely try and put something purple together for this great cause :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to remember to wear purple this weekend and snap a pic for you my dear.

The rug looks amazing in your space - gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your heavy hearts as you remember your father in law on his birthday. You are honoring his memory so much by raising awareness and research funding. Hugs to you.
Oh - that's such a nice way to commemorate your father in law Cindi. I'll have to try and pull something together. LOVE your new rug and bench! Where is the bench from? I wonder if they have a color that will look good with our stuff. It's a great piece! Happy Monday!

Cindi! I am lovin' the rug, its beautiful :) I agree with the others that the purple OOTD is a great way to commemorate your FIL.
ReplyDeleteps. I owe you an email! sorry!
I'm so glad that you're doing this post, Cindi. Although I don't personally know anyone who has been a victim of pancreatic cancer,I do know several people who have passed away from other forms of cancer, such as lung and brain. It's so important to spread awareness about all forms of cancer, and I would be so honored to participate. I'm about to post some purple outfits and will send them your way soon.
