T-Minus 33!

Oy...it's exactly 33 days from the big day.  I'm getting super nervous, especially when it's night fall, because as studies have shown, people tend to get more emotional during the night.  We still have so much to do it seems and I just can't believe in a little over a month, everything has to be perfect.  Well, not perfect...I've admitted to myself that it won't be.  Which I'm fine with.  But I want to at least make that day as fun as possible...for myself, Chris and my guests.

Anyhoo...enough of that.  A couple of you who's also sharing in this joyous wedding planning time with me have asked me what my first dance song is going to be.  It comes with a background story, so if I bore you...please just scroll down to my OOTD pics.  Hehehe.

When I was living in LA and Chris was here in Seattle, we decided to take a trip to New York City together.  We wanted to save up some money so we made a pact to not visit each other until the trip.  Which left us 25 days.  25 days for some isn't very long, but we visited one another every other week.  So 25 was a huge number for us.  We made our little countdown, but everyday Chris emailed me a song and a little blurb about how that song reminded him of me and why he chose to send it.  On T Minus 9...nine days before we were set to meet in New York, the song he sent was B4-4's That's How I Know

My friends ask me
When it comes to giving you my heart
How can I be sure?
'Cause they see how fast we
Filled up all the empty parts
In my soul and yours
When I answer it erases their doubts
'Cause the truth comes out

When I'm miles away
And I still feel your touch
When I make mistakes
And no one gives up
When you're in my arms
Baby you're still not close enough
That's how I know it's love
It's love

Just like they are
I'm amazed I found someone made just for me
Oooo your love so far
Tell me I would be a fool not to believe
That I've been given a gift in this life
I must have done something right

When I'm miles away
And I still feel your touch
When I make mistakes
And no one gives up
When you're in my arms
Baby you're still not close enough
That's how I know it's love

Now I know what forever's for
Each day I want you more

When I'm miles away
And I still feel your touch
When I make mistakes
And no one gives up
When you're in my arms
Baby you're still not close enough
That's how I know it's love

That's how I know it's love

So ok, B4-4 is a Canadian boy band...and I get that.  A first dance song from a boy band.  Oy!  But the song is sweet and so are the lyrics, so who cares if they are Backstreet Boys wannabes.  Chris and I were determined to use songs for our wedding that's not overly used in other weddings.  I didn't want to walk down the aisle to Canon D.  And for those of you who used Canon D, I have nothing against it, it's a great song.  But I wanted to be different.  Through this process, we were able to find such great artists on Youtube and other websites.  Artists with such great talent, passion...and artists that are not Justin Bieber.  :)  I will post my processional and recessional songs as well in the days to come.

This OOTD was actually from last week.  I just can't get enough of the two-wheeler dress and pairing it with the mustard colored cylinder belt was perfect.  Love it!

Happy Monday all!

  1. heh, even down to a week before my wedding date, I still felt like I got all the time in the world to plan out the rest of the little details. I thought I got everything under control. And that was full time committed to the task. NOPE! Time just flew by me. Planning was still being made even on the eve of the date...both my husband and I knew something was going to go wrong on the day of the wedding. On the morning of, we just promised each other to have a fabulous time no matter on. And yes, things did go wrong, but we had such a great time that only those memories are staying with us for many years to come.

  2. I love that you guys are choosing different types of songs. It will make your wedding that much more memorable. I've never heard of that song before, but the lyrics sound very sweet. And you look great in your dress!

  3. Ultimately the first dance is supposed to represent you two as a couple and have a deep meaning for you guys and it sounds like this one does.

The weddings I enjoy going to the most are the ones where you leave as a guest really feeling like you actually know the couple better because the wedding really represented who they are together.

  4. How exciting! I was stuck taking the bar exam 33 days before my wedding - so I imagine you are enjoying this time much more than I did! LOL

Who cares if your first dance song isn't "cool" - it means something to you guys and that's what matters. Our first dance song was a Neil Diamond song (who I love!) and my father and I danced to the theme from The Greatest American Hero (don't ask! LOL)

  5. Sydney - No matter how prepared you try to be, there's always something that has to done last minute huh? I know Chris and I will have a wonderful time. I've totally accepted that things will go wrong on the day of, but the days leading up to it, you bet I'll try to make those things not happen!

Liz - You and the rest of the world, including myself haven't heard of that song. Chris used to mix music and DJing was his hobby in high school so he collected a bunch of music back then. When I heard it, I absolutely fell in love with it. And it was an easy decision to have that song as our first dance.

Lisa - I'm pretty sure that the guests will get to know us a lot better after our wedding. We really tried our best to make it personal! I almost am overwhelmed with the personal touches at this point. But I know it'll come together well.

Kathleen - Eeeek...bar exam 33 days before your wedding? You musta wanted to pull your hair out. Aww I love Neil Diamond and your father and daughter dance song sounds really sweet. The Greatest American Hero...probably holds true in your heart. :)

  6. It sounds like your wedding is going to be so special! I love all the personal touches that you're including. They will really make the wedding feel like a celebration and not a "show." I hope everything goes smoothly in these final weeks. We're here if you need to vent about any of the stress!

  7. I just went to a wedding this weekend. It is always the little details make the wedding truly memorable. Good luck in plannning your big day and don't stress out too much. The lyric of the song is so sweet and Chris is so romantic. (I don't think my hubby ever send me any songs, but then he doesn't listen to any songs)

Love the mustard color against the blue! Happy and Monday are contradictory by definition and should be ban from the same sentense ;-)

Such exciting times for you- definitely take it all in and remember as much as you can about the planning it took to get to the big day.
